Workbook 1: Orientation to Hope
Dr. Ripley explains what Hope Focused Counseling is
Let's start at the beginning
You will find information to read, worksheets and other resources here in our digital workbook. If your counselor has given you a personalized plan, follow that plan. If you are exploring on your own we recommend

1. Read the "What is Hope" post by Dr. Ripley
2. Look over the "Are we Ready" post
3. Plan for a date night as a couple
4. Begin the Hope Workbook at a pace you, your partner
and your counselor agree is good for you.
How are we?
Couples attachment and enjoyment of their relationship will ebb and flow over time. How are you doing as a couple?
01
Hope Focused Couple Assessment
If you are part of our Hope clinic at Regent University, you should have completed our extensive screening and assessment, and received a treatment plan for counseling.
03
Self-assessment as a couple
It's hard to reach your goals without clarity. This self-assessment is designed to help both partners reflect on what parts of their relationship they want to focus. You don't have to agree, you can have more than one goal.
02
Affiliate Hope Counseling Assessment
If you are seeing one of our affiliated hope focused couple counselors, there are numerous couple assessments available through our website that your counselor can use.
04
Feedback
Spend time reviewing the results and feedback from your counselor. Discuss it as a couple. You can ask for more or less time on different aspects of the plan. Agreeing together with each other, and your counselor on the approach to couple counseling is very important.
